I’m watching the debates and am rageful with rage, which phrase will have to serve while I pull through a copy of Ed Sanders’ Tales of Beatnik Glory (Vols. 1 and 2) for more articulate expression. Above art by Ron Rege who is the drummer in Lavender Diamond (who I can mention at least once a day) and who can probably always tap a little humor into the kind of stubborn rottenness I’m wallowed in. And Bill Fox wrote both these songs—one as a floppy sloppy kid playing windmill chords on college lawns and one as a young man playing into a wobbling tape deck on some quiet night. But it’s the same song.

UPDATE: Just walked in the other room to hear the TV say “…the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression… but I’m sure brighter days are ahead.” Roll opening credits, Fleischer.

  1. “Soon they’ll be breeding us like cattle. You’ve got to warn everyone and tell them!”
